Organic Cotton
Cotton is a natural material with soft and durable fiber with a pleasant feel. Because of its unique qualities, cotton is one of the most popular fibers globally. The downside of cotton is that its cultivation and production require a lot of water, energy and chemicals. Lis bonne Ateliers aims to work only with organic cotton. Organic cotton is a better alternative since its produced and grown without the use of harmful pesticides and chemicals. Our organic cotton is certified with OCS® or GOTS®. Both certifications are 3-part verifications system to ensure the end consumer the origin and safety of the product.
Due to global shortage of organic cotton we also sometimes use cotton from BCI®. BCI, or Better Cotton Initiative is a supportive and educational worldwide program to support farmers to grow cotton with less water and pesticides.
Garments made from cotton is often durable and long lasting. To prolong life of your garment made in cotton, wash less, wash inside out, refresh after wear by air out or steaming after use. Always follow care instructions. Its natural with a 5% shrinkage of cotton when washing, steaming or ironing when damp to regain the original shape.
Better Viscose and Regenerated fibers
Viscose and Lyocell are so-called regenerated fibers, which means it is of natural origins but that the fibers itself is chemically extracted. The raw material is cellulose, usually wood. Viscose is also known as artificial silk – since quality and hand feel of the material is similar to silk. Conventional viscose or lyocell production involves a lot of energy and chemicals. Lis Bonne Atelier aim to always use better viscose, such as Eco Vero® or Tencel® from Lenzing®. This to ensure a more sustainable production process, but also to make sure the raw material comes from sustainable forestry that is FSC® certified. FSC is a 3-part certification and verifications system to ensure the end consumer the origin and safety of the product.
Use steamer or air out after wear, avoid washing. Wash in low temperature and with inside out, always follow care instructions. Regenerated fibers have a natural shrinkage of 5% after wash, ironing or steam when damp to regain the original shape.
Recycled Polyester and Polyamide
Polyester and Polyamide are both synthetic fibers derived from fossil resources, its non-biodegradable and releases micro plastics. Synthetic materials have different characters compared to natural fibers, its strong, durable, crease-resistant, and keep their shape well. Lis Bonne Atelier is committed to phase out all fossil originated materials and instead use synthetic fibers and materials from recycled sources like GRS® certified polyester and polyamide, which is a 3-part verifications system to ensure the end consumer the origin and safety of the product.
Wash less and cool, steam or air out after wear. Avoid ironing on your synthetic garments. Always follow care instructions.
European Linen
Linen is a natural fiber with characteristics such as long lasting and durable. The more you wear and use it the softer and more luxury look you will get. Linen from Europe is considered to have less environmental impact due to less use of chemicals and production processes. Lis Bonne Atelier only use linen originated from Europe.
Linen has natural shrinkage of 5%, iron when damp to recover original shape. Wash less and wash cool. Always follow care instructions. Air out or steam between wears.
Wool and animal originated fibers
Wool is the most common animal fiber. It is natural and breathable. It reacts to changes in body temperature to keep you warm when it is cold and cool when it is warm. Wool is also odor- and wrinkle-resistant, which means that wool clothing doesn’t need to be washed as often as other fiber types do, saving water and energy. Wool is a wonderful fiber but it is important to always care for our animals. All our suppliers have to sign and honor our animal welfare policy.
Wash less, follow care instructions thoroughly. Air out or steaming is preferred between wears. Use special wool detergent to preserv your garment better.
Denim
Your favorite pair of jeans from Lis Bonne Atelier will last for a very long time if you give them the care and love they deserve. Avoid washing, prefer spot cleaning, wash cool and with similar colors, never use softener and wash with inside out. Stretch when damp to avoid shrinkage. Never tumble dry, heat can destroy the sensitive elastane (if its stretch denim) Keep your denim in a dark place since strong light might affect the indigo-color of the jeans. Be careful when wearing new jeans since the dye may transfer to light-colored surfaces and materials, for example other clothes or furniture. This is the character with all denims.
Sweaters
Cozy knits need a little extra care to keep you warm and stylish for many years to come. Keep in mind to air out or steam between wears, avoid washing. Always follow care instructions rigorously and flat dry when wet. Never keep your knits in a hanger in your closet, always fold them to remain the shape. If pilling needs to be removed use a garment comb carefully. Never iron your knit, steaming is preferred to take away creases or refresh your knit.
